There are many ways for you to get involved and support our work

UK

Dominic Bond – Development Director & Trustee - dominic@sabretrust.org - +44 20 323 99 476
Dominic is an international development professional with six years’ experience working as a consultant and project manager in Africa. He co-founded the Sabre Charitable Trust and now works as the Development Director, ensuring that all of the programmes and projects that are supported are ethical and sustainable. He recognises the paramount importance of community involvement to ensure the creation of a sense of ownership and guarantees that the time, money and efforts of volunteers and donors is used in the most effective and beneficial ways.

Candice Sainsbury – Development Advisor & Trustee
An experienced international development profession, Candice brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her trusteeship with the Sabre Trust. Having worked as a senior advisor and acting Country Director for a number of international programmes in Cambodia, Candice is well placed to advise the charity's directors on community engagement, programme management and donor policy. Additionally, in her current professional capacity, Candice is working with children's services in the UK, a role that has considerable relevance to the Sabre Trust's work on School and Community Healthcare.

Tabitha Symonds – Volunteer Programme Advisor & Trustee
Tabitha has worked for more than a decade in the travel industry and is an experienced independent traveller.  She has worked in the adventure travel industry, for a prominent environmental charity and for one of the UK's and US's leading adventure travel, gap year and volunteer organisations.  Tabitha is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and has travelled extensively, particularly in Latin America and Africa, where she has organised and run her own charity expeditions.

Chris Counihan – Education Consultant & Trustee
Chris is currently studying child development and young pathways at Newcastle which will either go into a primary teaching/cognitive science career. He has a real passion for the creative learner, observing movements and strategies of how practitioners can tailor educational approaches for children's creative needs. He has been involved with the Primary Programme as offered by Young Enterprise North East. The programme targets Primary Schools' "grey areas" of the National Curriculum, such as citizenship, social, emotional involvement.  He also worked as a volunteer in Ghana supporting Sabre's literacy assessments and advising teachers of group and classroom structure to make teaching more manageable through inclusive practice and ability targeting.

Moyra Zaman – Partnership Advisor & Trustee
Moyra has worked in the education system for over 30 years in Europe and Africa. Her special interest in Africa began after an overland expedition led her across the Sahara desert to Nigeria where she spent two years working in a remote village school. Her interest in Cultural learning and development has evolved as she is responsible for a variety of partnership links, fundraising events and international awareness programmes in her current school.

In the UK this team is supported by an extensive network of ex-volunteers, partner schools, and the volunteer agencies. In Ghana, all of the SCT projects are carried out in collaboration with the communities that the charity supports and in full consultation with the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) District Education Directorate.
