Sabre Trust selected as Charity of the Year by Davis Langdon LLP
The Sabre Charitable Trust is pleased to announce that it has been selected by Davis Langdon LLP as their charity of the year for 2008/09. The charity was chosen through a staff vote, polling the firm's 2,000 UK employees, after a comprehensive short-listing and due diligence process.
Davis Langdon, the world renowned construction consultancy firm, provides a perfect fit for the Sabre Trust's work on school infrastructure improvements, and together the organisations are preparing to launch an inaugural sustainable design competition. The competition will give uindergraduate students throughout the UK the opportunity to design an Eco-Education Centre, to be built by the Sabre Trust in Ghana. Expert staff from Davis Langdon will guide and support the school teams through the design process, and construction work on the winning design is expected to begin in June 2009. The education centre will serve as a base for teacher training courses, shared lessons between Ghanaian and visiting international students and represent a centre of excellence in the use of sustainable building techniques.
As a firm, the ethics and core business of Davis Langdon closely match the values and programmatic focus of the Sabre Trust, and we are pleased to be able to count on the support of the firm and its people during what we expect to be important year of growth and development for the charity. Davis Langdon's progressive people and community policies are reflected in its achievement of 19th place in the prestigious Sunday Times league table of the Best 100 Companies to Work For, and we very much look forward to getting Davis Landgon people involved in all aspects of the Sabre Trust's programme from the UK and in Ghana. |
