Classroom Management

Volunteers contributed to some very successful changes to the timetable and classroom management this year. The timetable was split into 3 manageable lessons with the subjects requiring more concentration being moved to first thing in the morning. The tables in KG1 were rearranged into small groups and each child’s name was taped on the table where they sat. Dorcas and subsequent volunteers found this set up helped maintain a more controlled environment, created more opportunities to do group work and encouraged peer support. Children have also become much better at writing their own name. Dorcas continued the system for the September intake and has had the same success.
