What have you been up to?

23 Feb 2008
Hello, my name is Erin Janca and I volunteered with Sabre Trust in the summer of 2007. I spent 6 weeks in Besease, Ghana teaching kindergarten. Back home in the States I am a high school Special Education teacher. I realized once I arrived home that I needed to continue helping the region in which I spent my summer.

When we started back to school in September, I decided to make educating the suburban teens of my school a priority. We all know that with education comes compassion and with compassion comes action. The display in the pictures was located outside the school library in the main hallway. The colors were bright and vibrant and caused students to pause and take a look. From there, I solicited their help in raising funds for Ghana. We've had one fund raiser and are currently working on our second. It was with this display that I reached the students, sparked their interests, and caused them to take action. Sometimes it's the little things that can make such a big difference!
