Kindergarten teachers in rural schools are often untrained community teachers, without specific knowledge of early years education. In turn the classes are not taught in an engaging way and the children do not fulfil their learning potential. The Sabre Trust is committed to working with these teachers to enhance their skills and give them a better understanding of the curriculum designed by the Ghana Education Service.
By recruiting skilled early years professionals to travel to Ghana as volunteer trainers, Sabre is able to combine international best practice with local cultural awareness. By coaching teachers in the benefits of learning through play and activity based learning, we are helping to transform the way kindergarten is taught in Ghana.
Through a programme of training, teaching practice, review and classroom observations, the trainee teachers gain the confidence and skills to deliver exciting and stimulating kindergarten classes, which are entirely consistent with the sound principles laid out in the national curriculum.
Do you have the skills and experience to join our teacher training team? We are looking for experienced early years professionals with an appetite to
share their knowledge and in turn learn about and overcome the challenges of teaching in a resource-scarce environment.
