What's Involved

The expedition process generally takes 12-14 months. This allows time to fundraise, plan the expedition and make preparations in- country. Generally the expeditions are made up of different phases depending on the project choosen. If a UK school simply wants to support a particular project or is interested in a partnership the same planning and preparation steps are taken. The process is outlined below:

In the UK

  1. Project selected with the school
  2. Presentation made to students to recruit expedition volunteers
  3. Fundraising plans made
  4. Project realisation planning meetings
  5. Project expedition preparation/training weekend
  6. Final departure briefing
 
 
Once in-country
  1. Collection from airport and transfer to central base
  2. Induction to community and project - meeting the incountry support team
  3. Action roles and responsibilties of expedition volunteers
  4. Commence project work
  5. Cultural / sightseeing visits at weekends
  6. Expedition de-brief
Back in the UK
  1. Presentation of expedition achievements to funders and school
  2. Receipt of updates from project community
  3. School to consider partnership
