All the communities are African. This is a continent which is regularly in the news and TV either because disaster has struck or wonderful luxury holidays are being advertised. Both these visions are extremes and give a small indication what the majority of Africa is really like - diverse geographically, fascinating culturally; it was the last great continent to be explored by western explorers in the 19th century.
The wonder of this continent is that parts of it still exist as though not touched by time yet most of it is desperate to develop. Improvements in education, health and infrasture are regularly taking place. The explorers of this modern age now not only want to learn, but to be involved, to support development where possible. That is what these expeditions are all about. |
