The performing arts masterclasses offer a wonderful opportunity to become involved with local artists who
want to give you a rich and thrilling experience of their skills and culture. Rural communities hold so much cultural
heritage and this is kept alive with village drummers and dancers who still perform ritualistic, artistic and celebratory
dances. Dances are always led by the drum; the drum beat creates the dance moves and gestures which are sensual, exotic
and powerful.
You will be instructed in drumming and dance by local artesans. You will also be able to see some of the most amazing
performances from village troupes and at the Academy of African Music and Arts (AAMAL) located on Kokrobite Beach. The
Academy is internationally renown and it was founded by Ga percussionist Moustapha Tettey Addy.

The programme is as vibrant, dynamic and creative as you want to make it. There is no holding Ghanaians
back; their love of music and dance is so natural, it is your interaction and enthusiasm with them that will drive the
direction and focus of the masterclasses.
The training is fun and totally absorbing and it will equip the group with plenty of knowledge to create, practice and
perform your own Ghana Dance Show. There will be time to shop for colourful materials and accessories to co-ordinate
and choreograph your Ghana Evening of Entertainment. The experience is unique and will show you new techniques that
you can add to your individual and group repertoire. |
